3 weeks ago I took all the corals and LR out of the 25G and transfered them to the 65G. I cleaned up the 25G and aquascaped a new LR structure and planned on filling it with fish from the gulf. Then this voice in my head told me to bend the rules and put some jawfish in the tank because they are found in the carribean. Next thing you know that voice has me convinced to make the 25G a full blown reef again. Moral of the story is don't leave a tank full of SW running. This is kind of like how people start stocking their hospital tank with corals and fish. I have myself convinced I can do it cheaply but if I start talking about upgrading my lighting from the 65W PC to something more please kill me or I will end up killing myself with DIY projects for two tanks. I figure 3 jawfish and a pair of clowns in a 25G with just mushrooms and zoanthids shouldn't be too much work. :D I am going to try as hard as I can to make this tank run itself but learn from my mistake; take down tanks when you are done with them, don't leave them running with SW.

Tom take the day off from your tanks this Sunday and come work on my tank. The rest of the parts should be in tomorrow.

Brandon-
Do you have home owners insurance? I tend to injure myself when I work on my tank. This weeks inury is a scraped up and scratched up hand from those little mini feather dusters that like to get on the overflow pipe. I was trying to twist off the pipe as hard as I could those suckers scratched the hell out of my hands. I also got bulk head in my eye when I had to cut off the bulk head.
Then there was the time I nearly cut off my thumb on a baffel trying to cram bag of carbon in between baffles in my sump. Lets not even mention how wet your carpets will be not to mention me by the time I would be done.

Last time I plumbed outside I spilled PVC primer and cement all over my parents driveway.

I always do my plumbing inside and open the window and put a fan there to draw the fumes out. As many times as I've replumbed my tank (i.e. a LOT), I've only managed to get one tiny splatter of primer on the carpet.

I thought that was quite an accomplishment, although the wife didn't tend to agree.

I updated your quote Tom.

Well Mark I did rip apart my ankle the first time in an attempt to wrestle a gar and the second time riped apart my hands. What can I say I am injury prone in my old age.

Thanks Tom, we'll try and stay away and will never leave an empty fish tank running with water just begging to be filled

We are making poster in the efforts to make people aware of Reef-aholics. The poster reads:

My name is Tom, I'm a reef-aholic. Please keep me away from SW tanks. I am an accident waiting to happen. Keep all tools away from me. Fish beware! I have the ability to inflict pain and injury to anyone around me. My name is Tom, I'm a reef-aholic.

It just shows you how comitted I am to this hobby that I will put my own life on the line for my fish and corals. The sad thing is its not the stupid things that injure me like when I was cutting PVC with a circular saw, its always sneaky things that come and get me like the clacified shells of feather dusters.
No hobby is fun with out blood, sweat, and beers. Yesterday I looked at the two new clowns in the 25G and said "It has begun."

I stuck with the same race and I got him an Orange girl friend (or boyfriend). I through them a house warming party last night by filling the tank with Cyclop-Eeze and turning off the pumps. Suckers ate for almost an hour. :D

I really appreciate you sharing your story with us Tom. If you guys have been following my progress you will know that I am around 3 weeks into cycling my first sw tank. Since some time around week 2 my wife started planning our next one! 8O Do you think you guys could help me organize some sort of intervention before it's too late???

So, your wife is already wanting to get another tank? Is this really a problem, or are you just bragging? :D

She is planning the next one because you have yet to start buying corals and fish. Go to the LFS and get yourself about 5 colonies and see if she still wants another tank.

No music Leslea. They are going to get a peep show in a couple of days when the Cinnamons get it on in the tank across from them.

He/She has to learn some time after having so many years of a platonic relationship with his ex-mate

Rob-
You may want to take her up on the second tank now. Many a MARSH member tells everyone that they are getting a new tank. Then shortly afterword tells everyone they are having another kid. You may want to save that deal for when you want a bigger tank.
