I bought a Copperband a week or so ago at FG and he was being bullied by my yellow tang. I caught the tang and put him in the sump but a day prior I noticed this on the copperband. Two spots on his left fin I have a QT that I can put him in. I'd like to know if anyone thinks he will be fine to leave. He acts fine and eats frozen food...no aptasia though.

In my opinion, leave it in the tank-too late to QT now. It's a delicate fish and stress of QT could possibly kill it.

Could be lymphocystis - a viral infection, no cure but with good water quality, good feeding and low stress the virus goes into remission

I had a emperator angel back in the 90's that had it. Came in with it, I anesthetized the fish with MS-222 (Tricaine Methanesulfonate), cut the really bad lump off of the end of the fin, put him back in the tank, fed him well and never really saw any resurgence of it again. He was like a pet dog, trained him to take food from me... would swim up to my hands when ever I was working in the tank.. awesome fish but definitely wouldn't be coral friendly..

I wouldn't bother with it from what I see on your copperband... as it is stressful in and of itself..

here is some info if you want to read more about MS-222

Agree. Leave him in and monitor. After a couple days the yellow should be ok to reintroduce into the tank. He will forget about his territory and should get along with everyone.

Soak your fish food in vitamin supplements like Selcon, Zoecon, or Vita-Chem. These will boost the natural immune system of your fish and is especially good for clearing up viruses such as Lymphocystis.
