I noticed fish fanatix hadn't posted in a while. I was hoping someone was still around on the south side. I don't want to drive into houston just for a couple fish after my cycle. Any idea when down by da sea is opening?

I highly recommend Rainforest Pets in League City. They have a small saltwater section, but their fish (sometimes some really hard to find ones) are competitively priced even to petco standards. (also very healthy) Lots of soft coral and lps, but no sps.

Second place that is a hit and miss for me is Aqua Zoo and thats on eldorado.

Hi guys,

My name is Heidi and I work for Jungle Jim's Pet Center & Grooming. We just want you guys to know we are now out here and paying attention to the customers requests and making some major changes. Back in February Patrick left to seek part time employment elsewhere. During this time I inherited the Aquatic department. Though I do not have a huge background with aquatics I am a reptile and invertebrate hobbyist and breeder. I have since applied the same views in my existing hobby with this as well. Learning as much as I can from the hobbyist and constant reading. While at times it seems a bit overwhelming I am grateful for all the hobbyist in the area that have extended their time and knowledge into helping me grasp an entirely new perspective and unlearn many bad habits. Since his leaving many things are happening. With the help of a few Marsh Reef members, I think it's high time we stepped up and done things properly. We are currently making changes and once some headway is made we will be sponsoring MARSH as we are already sponsors of a Texas based Reptile Forum. I welcome the members to come take a tour and talk to me about the changes as I do love the input.

We were requested for the following accounts and have been approved to order from the following companies. Larrys Reef Service in order to get Reef and Herbivore Frenzy (which we have in store already and the fish love it!!), EcoTech Marine, Coral-Vue, and Neptune Systems along with others in the works and our existing distributors.

We installed a 6 stage RODI unit and have 50 Gallons of Freshwater & 50 Gallons of Premixed Saltwater all the time. Our premixed saltwater is made with Aquavitro Salinity.

Many know the existing systems were a hodge-podge of wet dry and hang on filters. I removed the hang on the back filters and installed sumps on all the saltwater tanks. The reef safe tanks have been temporarily downed and are under construction. These 3 consist of a 55 Gallon, and two 75 Gallon tanks. This unit has been completely disassembled. We have had the tanks drilled in order to be plumbed into a 75 Gallon sump. The sump kit is on order and should arrive soon. The crushed coral has been removed and will be replaced by sand. Our plan is to feature 3 coral sections featuring primarily soft and LPS corals.

I am really excited about all the changes and hope to work with the Aquatic community to see this hobby continue to grow, expand, and thrive. I'm sure I have missed some things here and hope I see some of yall in the store soon.

Heidi next time I drive down south on 45 I will stop by and introduce myself. Andy, I believe he is by the Uhaul place on Hwy 3 but is not open as of yet. If you send him a pm he can order you stuff that your looking for before the store opens. I know a couple of people who did that. Also he just distributed the jebao pumps from the group buy a few weeks back.

So what the heck is going on, Houston is the 4th largest city in the united states and no one really carries anything overly cool or exotic? Not saying there isn't anything cool. FJW and city pets have a pretty good selection, but none of the more exotic zoas or sps. And the south side seems to really suck. I stopped by all about fish today and I don't know what happened with that place since I've been out. Hardly anything colorful and no more ORA stuff for a few weeks. That place may have been a little expensive, but he used to have a full stock of some awesome stuff.

Who are you guys ordering from online with somewhat decent prices and good selections? By the time I take some free time (what little I have) and pay for gas to drive to the north side, I may as well just order something online. I wish someone with good ethics would open a nice shop closer to me. Hell, I can't even find any marsh members on the south side looking to get rid of the better stuff.

It sucks down here.

I have to go up to 3cc & Fjw to find nice stuff. I'd rather buy local than online.
At least you can look at them in person & they have already made the flight in.

DustinB, you should go check out Don of frags and more. He has some nice pieces and can get anything you want from ORA. He's a sponsor on here as well as having a FB page

Look in the vendor/sponsor feedback forum, you have to change the posting to from the beginning as it only shows the last year by default. Either that or search for the threads I started. I would rather stab myself in the eye with a rusty fork than give Don a single penny...

Wow, tell us how you really feel. I get it though, no worries. Don't know what happened between y'all in the past, I can only speak for my dealings with him.

Look for downbythasea, he's been supposed to open up a shop in Webster since July 1. Maybe he can help you.

Down By Da Sea is actually inside the U-Haul gate. They have a section of offices/shops back there. It's the office straight ahead after going through the gate. You'll see the sign on the door. I picked up a wp40 a couple weeks ago and things were looking good. Lots of healthy SPS frags along with some LPS and Softies.
