I'm looking for a replacement to a Mag 7 for my sump return. Must be a submersible pump. I've been happy with the Mag 7 so I'm not opposed to just getting another but thought I'd get opinions first.

Criteria I'm looking for are:

1. 700-900 max flow so that at 5" return height I still have sufficient flow (say 400 - 600 gph). The Mag 7 is rated at 420.

2. Low noise

3. Good reliability

4. Low heat output

5. Low watt usage

OK with that, everyone yell out their favorites and why.

Hello,

Just wondering why you want such a low turn over rate for your return??

I keep a fairly low flow through my sump to let the water stay in contact with my skimmer and macro longer. I also have another Mag 7 that runs my chiller that also returns to my tank so its actually 2 Mag 7's acting as returns. I then have two Seio 1500s in my tank as circulation.

My tank is mostly softies and LPS so I don't need outrageous "Garrick style" (oldies will understand) flow.

I may not be opposed to having one larger return pump that runs both to the chiller and directly to the tank. I had considered that optoin until just now.
