Does anyone know if any of our LFS sells the replacement pads? I somehow got some sand in mine and it left some pretty narly scratches

Also what is a good scraper to use near the sandbed, I am getting some nasty stuff on the glass near the bottom

Thanks!!

they make replacement felt pads for them but I do not see why you couldnt order the replacement ones for the algae free ones and use that.

or maybe just go to hobby lobby and guy some velcro cause that is all it is.

Thanks, are the Algae Free pads better than the Mag's?

I have looked before at the area LFS for the replacement pads and could find them. I ended up ordering from here:

To clean near the sandbed I have always used one of the stainless steel algae scrapers or a single-edge razor blade. HTH

I saw those on DFS but I am trying to avoid the $10 shippin charge that weighs less than a pound.

Thanks for the tip for the bottom!

I certainly understand about the shipping. Really hadn't considered that since I had bought a couple of other things, so it made it worthwhile.

Welcome on the tip! Learned the hard way just as you did. It's a mistake you will only do once.

I have also been able to clean my pads if they aren't in terrible shape. Just used an old toothbrush to remove the old gunk and raise the abrasive surface a bit.

the algae free kits have both a felt pad for outside and a velcro for the inside. The mag float kits are only the felt pad for the outside.

I would go to walmart or hobby lobby and buy some velcro and just use that since that is really all the inside of the cleaner is unless you have an acrylic tank. It will be cheaper and you will not have to pay shipping

cstewart79 - I'm curious if you have found a velco that worked for you. I tried that in the past and the adhesive did hold up in the water. I'd love to find a better solution as well.

Also the replacement kit for the mag float does include both the pad and felt. Here is the product.
