My male Cardinal just released about 8 or 9 babies last week and now he is hiding out in a cave and not coming out at feeding time. Has anyone seen this type of behavior before......he has always remained out in the open up until now. Is he dying? Is there anything I can do to save him?

He may be trying to hide from the female so she won't get him preggers again. Is there anyway you can catch him or separate him from her so you can bulk him up again.
