My mangroves i bought from MACNA when they were no leaves or roots. They have been growing in freshwater from the time i got them back home.
We will see how big they will grow in freshwater. :)

I'm sure they'll do fine as long as they have enough nutrients in the water. And you don't even have to mist the leaves to get the salt off! ;)
Plants can adapt very well.

I started mine (50 of them) from propagules just like you 6 months ago. Now they look like this.

Nice Dennis, If u want branches, clip the tip off close to the leaves and more branches will come out

Cool, i might just do that... some of these are getting pretty tall.
Can the clippings then be planted to grow new ones???

Mangroves are cool :)

At MACNA I walked up to Julian Sprung and asked him about how to trim them to keep them short. He told me to do what Mike13oy said - just snip the little bud that's at the very top. He said to use a razor or something similarly sharp and to cut it close to its base. I've gotten a little lazy and haven't pruned mine in awhile and they've outgrown their light :(

Now I have to move em for the new tank. I'll definitely be interested to see if you can manage to get little propagules. That would be sweet.
