I am trying to decide on fish for my soon to be reef. For a while I want to keep an octopus but I have always wanted a marine betta. Has anyone ever kept one? Any insight?

Hopefully that wouldnt be the case in this tank. It would be the only fish in the tank.

It doesnt mess with your corals at all?

Yea, I wanted one too. Very pretty fish. I have also heard that they hide a lot.

Thats why I am making it the only fish in the tank. I hope that with time it will stay out most of the time. You can see it more at dusk as they are nocturnal.

Mine is about 8 inches. He is beautiful.
LA says in their description that it will eat small fish and shrimp. Do you have any shrimp or small fish and have you had a problem? My smallest fish is about 3" and I also have blood shrimp and cleaner shrimp. I'd hate to lose them. That alone would keep me from getting one.

Ive had one a year now never saw him for days he has just recently started coming out on a regular basis. The first 6 months he would hardly come out even at feed time
any little fish would spook him back into the rocks. He has never bothered small fish as I have lots of them. Shrimp is a different story. I used to go to t&t on a regular basis to get ghost shrimp
that kept him alive until he started eating with the other fish. They are a favorite and beautiful not to mention peaceful. Do believe yours will stay hidden a lot even by himself
So do put a couple of smaller fish in so you have something to watch. In time you will be happy you got the betta

Had one for 13 yrs, just passed away. Beautiful fish, but did not see him a lot. He could be found, just not an open water swimmer. Never bothered any shrimp or fish.

I have no problems with this. He ia happy with pellets, mysis, reef frenzy and squid. I have no shrimp though, but several small fish.
