I'm trying this stuff out as it's supposedly head and shoulders above all the others. I'll use the whole 150 gallons worth and report back to you all to tell you if my calcium and alkalinity finally stabilized... the coralife salt as well as the instant ocean salts were always low on alk.

I wouldn't base a salt decision on alk alone, I mean how hard is it to add baking soda?

I've heard so many claims about one salt being so much better than the others, but I've seen no proof yet to back it up any of the claims.

BTW, your sig: When/Where did Chesterton say that?

Surf, there's a salt study out that's worth a look:

http://www.aquacraft.net/s9911.html

The S-15 Report is skewed for aquacraft's products, but I also found an article that balances aquacrafts claims, defends a few and dismisses a few:

http://www.calgaryaquariumsociety.com/Articles/Web_Site_Review_Marine_Aquarist.html

It's all fascinating to me and I'm willing to pay extra for a salt mix now and then to see if it really makes any difference in my tank.

The near daily dosage of baking soda (or buffer) is a pain in the butt and I know of many reefers who do not have to do this as frequently as I must do it... but they cannot tell me why.

Concerning the Chesterton quote, I'll have to look that up. I snagged it from a pastor I met who emailed me with it. I'll find it and post it here for you.

Surf, the Chesterton quote (or a variation of it) was from a book he wrote entitled "Heretics", published in 1905. He also was quoted in the Illustrated London News (1919) saying, "Impartiality means at best indifference to everything".
