Please join us Saturday May 17th for our Galveston day/night collection.

5:00 PM - We will start out on the east side of the island in the marsh collection pipefish, shrimps, pods and maybe some little fish.

6:30 PM - We will the move down to the seawall in front of the Rainforest Cafe and do a little beach/rock collection, there should be several rock anemones, blenny’s and whatever other fish we end up pulling up with a sine net.

8:00 PM - Once it is dark we can head out on the rocks and try to catch come peppermint shrimps.

We will have refreshments and some sort of food for the beach collection portion (most likely sandwiches of some sort).

Directions: Find Interstate 45.... Head South then keep going. I-45 will turn into Broadway St once you are onto the island that will dead end into Seawall Blvd and the water... turn left on Seawall Blvd go to the very end and turn right we will start in the Marsh on the right side of the road.

if so, pm me and i'll shoot you my address. as for meeting up, here's how i look at it. the peps really don't come out until really late...like midnight or so. that's the best time to collect. i'm going to try to get off work a little early, but i probably won't be home until at least 7 or somewhat later. everyone can come by for a breather/break from collecting and have some snacks or just sit around and chat. i have a few people interested...but only a few. if anyone else is interested in swinging by, please pm me so i can prepare for the appropriate amount of people. and if anyone wants to bring some snacks, they're more than welcome.

I will have my boys with me - ages 4 & almost 3, so anyone who's kids want to hang out with us while you help my husband with collecting for ME, I can watch them for a bit. Just don't abuse me. LOL But I'm sure my kids will enjoy having some other kids to play with.

I'm 99% sure we're coming, unless something unforeseen comes up.

Just found out I can make it!! I know I registered late. Any food I can bring to help please let me know!!

As for collecting supplies... any ideas as to what I will need... this will be my first outing out with you guys or well collecting at all.

The main things you need are a bucket, battery powered air pump and a net with small holes in it. The smaller the mesh of the net the smaller stuff you can catch

But good luck, the sargassum is likely rolling in to galveston real soon, ya'll should be able to collect some interesting stuff.
