My question to anyone who has done this or any thoughts? I have 100lbs of Araga-Alive Special Grade Sand in my display I'm planning to add 40lbs bag of CaribSea OCEAN Direct Caribbean Live Sand Regular Grade, my Tank has been setup for only 7 weeks with around 70lbs of dry Marco rock and Bio ball media , so far everything has been great I have had some diatoms on rock and sand but you know that's just the norm of the ugly stage. My cuc do a good job cleaning it up along with the Turbo 900 that I used in the beginning. I just want to know if its a bad Idea adding this 40 lbs after the 7 weeks? Only reason is cause I have this bag that I over purchased and I'm thinking what bad can happen all except for not being special grade for my flow? Any thoughts or suggestions?

unless you have to. I wouldn't add the direct sea live sand into your established tank. That stuff is so filled with fine sediment that it'll cloud your water for days.

If you absolutely have add more sand, get something you can rinse well before hand and add a little bit at a time.

Use this to drop the clean sand directly on the bottom with minimal clouding.. great for converting bb to sand or adding additional sand to the tank. BF04325B-3545-4EA1-B46F-D76CBD3D8DF0.jpeg B763B2A5-8449-4D03-A522-D8492C27D568.jpeg

I had the ocean direct when I first set up and found it very fine. It got blown around a lot by my powerheads. I have special grade in their now. I have not had any problems changing sand. It did cloud up a bit, but after a few hours it was crystal clear again.
