Hello all.

If you have mrs. wages pickling lime I would like to ask a few questions.

What percentage of calcium does it state on the back of the package?
What store did you find it at and how much was it?
Have you had good luck with it thus far?

I am compiling some data to see how each type/brand of kalkwasser or kalkwasser alternative stands up to the other.

So far I have Kent Kalkwasser mix and Ball's pickling lime. If you have any other suggestions on other brands please let me know.

Thanks.

I got it @ Kroger's.
I don't regularly drip Kalk so can't give much info there, I used it in my topoff water for a couple months, didn't notice any diff in my tank then when I don't use it. So I stopped using it.

Well upon dripping kent kalk in my tank I definitely noticed a difference in the growth of my corals and especially the coralline algae. I also use tropic marin bio calcium on occassion though.

Thanks for the link. I ordered a few bags for myself (had to make it worth ordering lol). Saves me a trip to kroger anyway. The nearest one is close to an hour from here. btw could you post the %CA on the back of the bag please.

Thanks.

It doesn't say the percent of anything on the bag.
Doesn't say anything about ingredients on the bag. Just says for information go to www.mrswages.com

I get my Mrs. Wages at Kroger. Most major food stores has it.

I drip mine with a mixture of 4 heaping tablespoons to 2 1/12 gallons of water.

I get an explosion of pink and purple coraline when I drip.

I can drip a 2 1/2 container over two or 3 days and see an explosion of coraline growth.

I just take 1/8 of a teaspoon of kalk mix it with RO/Water and throw it in the sump each day. I started putting a table spoon of Epson Salt in my 5G top off water to keep Mag. up. And on Sat. I substitute 1/8 of a teaspoon of Turbo Calcium for the kalk. So far Calcium has been staying between 400-420 Alk has been on the low range of acceptable. The corlline really likes the epson salt. Keep in mind I am dosing the kent and kalk for a total water volume of about 30G. The Epson Salt is a table spoon per 5G of top off which you can dose the same. Epson salt is Magnesium Sulfate and is $1.50 at Walgreens for 3lbs. I forget why chemicly but low magnesium can make it diffcult to keep Calcium and Alk. in check.
