Hmm...How do you know it is an A. divericata? It's hard to tell with "staghorn corals" (what the Genus Acropora is usually called).

Actually, it doesn't matter what you call it - I'd just call it a nice Acro. - It sure looks nice.

Cheers

Hi Darrin,

The coloration on these corals indicates they come from an environment that is very different from an aquarium. Chances of survival are low and the corals will probably change color in your aquarium to a more brown.

I know it's not "sexy" but I recommend getting browner corals and letting them color up under your MH.

Cheers

Thats a chance you have to take with wild corals. Usually they will brown out for a while and return color, not return color, or turn out even better. For example, I received a 10 pack frag pack from Dr. Mac several months ago and ALL my frags have colored up NICE!! I was dissapointed at first, but after being patient, I was very happy from the purchase I made. Not only that, you are getting unique corals instead of getting the same ol mille's, monti's, etc. Here is one GOOD example of wild frag I bought that was brown when I purchased it.. look at it now:

OH and I like buying corals that I know what color they were first so I know what to expect out of them. Sometimes people are just afraid to make a big purchase because it is a risk.

Sometimes people are just afraid to make a big purchase because they don't have $200 to spend on a coral. :D

Edward, I found this beautiful tri color secale at a lfs.. couldn't leave w/o it:) and it's only $55 incl. tax (and w/o Marsh discount too)!
I think online stores like Reefermadness would sell it for >$100 for a 5"+ piece like this !

fishcraze,

I always go around to LFS's and havent found any SPS lately. That is why I stopped shopping around. Global was suppose to get some in this weekend but wasnt sure because of the Superbowl (flight delays). So I assumed he never did. I love shopping locally!

Also got this one from our lfs, but not sure what species is it. From afar, it looks like a montipora digidata, but it's not. Since it doesn't have the small polyps like the digidata, rather it has a rugged skin just like the elaphant skin corals (you can also see the elephant skin coral next to it in the pic). It has a solid/ unique purple color, and when under VHO it looks pretty blue (that's why when i saw it in the store i thought it's a blue digidata)
And guess how much? $35 incl. tax! and it's 4".

here is pic under MH:
