Got these two yesterday. Put them in my 5.5 gallon nano. The pistol went straight to work making a burrow and the yasha patiently waited. They have since dropped into seclusion (big surprise there), but they seem to have made significant progress with the burrow since last night. Hopefully I'll get to see them every so often.

Nice! Where did you get them?

I did watch the goby stick his head out tonight for a while during some more excavations by the shrimp. He is defenitely the lookout.

Gee, I'm so glad you posted about your new "pair". I realize now that my little goby may be lonely :( Just another example of how we learn from each other! When I bought my little "White Ray Goby", also known as Stonogobiops Yasha Goby, I wasn't told that they live with shrimp. I was too uneducated to know that I should research this goby. He was one of the first fish to enter my little nano cube and was the victim of a "newbie". I'm getting better educated in the school of reef keeping slowly but surely, but geeze... there's so much to learn. He's made it fine for about a year now, without a shrimp. Do you think I should look for a shrimp for him? In another month he will enter his "new ocean" and get to enjoy more room. :D What do you guys think, would that be a good time to find him a "buddy". Provided I can find a shrimp, are those shrimp reef safe for my sps and other coral??? Oh, I do try to research everything that enters my tank now. Especially in this hobby.. the more you learn, the more you realize you need to learn more
Thanks, Cheryl

They don't "need" a shrimp, but they do have a symbiotic relationship with the shrimp. I honestly can't say whether it would be any better for the fish with the shrimp. But you have had it for a year by itself, so its obviously doing fine on its own.
