As some of you know, I'm not able to keep my 150 any longer because I'm moving my office to my home, which is too small for a tank this big.

I think I've got a seller for it from the forum here, and everything but the chiller's been sold (I think!).

What is left is a poor, middle aged purple tang that's about 7 or 8 years old. He's lost most of his fins and his HLLD has progressed and he's lost a lot of his coloring in his face. I got him 6 years ago and only paid a couple of bucks for him because he had the HLLD when he arrived from the shipper to the LFS.

I don't have the heart to put him in a bowl of water and freeze him to death, which is what I've heard is the most humane way to put a fish out of his misery.

Thoughts? Ideas?

Poor fish. So it never recovered from HLLD?

How long have you had the fish?

Sorry to hear, if you end up having to do it and want the most "humane" method buy some clove oil from CVS. It will knock the fish out. From there either overdose with the clove oil or freeze.

Have you tried offering him up on the for free section? Maybe someone w/some experience and a large tank would want to try and rehab him. I know I would if I had a tank large enough for him.
