Im fixing to move to an apartment here in a few days or so, and i am wondering what would be the best way to transport the tank? I only live about 10miles from the apartment, so im not worried about anything drying out im just trying to figure out the easiest way. Any suggestions would be very helpful. Its an 11 gallon with 2 eighteen watt power compacts, about 18 pounds of live rock and a few other things. Thanks in advance.

Put all the rock in rubbermaid containers. Keep as much original water as possible, try not to disturb the sand bed. Bag you fish individually and good luck.

that is a cake walk to move.
I've moved tanks twice, once a 90 gallon and once a 55 gallon both from dallas to houston.

I put all my LR and as much water as I could into ice chests.
Sealed them best I could.
I also put all my corals and fish in the same ice chests. (one chest had a lot less rock, thats where the fish and corals were)

Just make sure you put all the rock as flat in the bottom as you can so nothing can fall over.
With 18 pounds of LR, you could move entire tank with 1 rubbermaid container or an ice chest.

You prolly dont need an ice chest as you're only going 10 miles. Don't have to worry too much about temp changing.
Just leave the sand in your tank and take the water all the way down to less than an inch above the sand, cover the top of tank with plastic wrap or something and use tape to hold it down. This just to prevent splashing out, so if that's not a concern for you, don't bother covering.
