I've got a doctor at our clinic that is having a new house built in Sugarland with an approx. 200gal in wall aquarium. (I know, I know...it must be rough.) Well, here's the kicker...he doesn't really want to mess with it, he just wants it there to look nice.

I told him that I'd ask around and see if anyone knew of some companies that do the regular maint. on home aquariums. If anyone happens to know of a good place, send me a contact number or name. I appreciate it.

That is what Aquarium Design Group does as their main business. They set up and maintain high end aquaria for the rich. I know that there are many other tank maintenance complanies and I am sure that you could find several of them in the Yellow Pages. However ADG does it for a living and if you have ever been to any of the meetings at their offices, you will know the quality of their work.

Have your Doctor friend give them a call.

Thanks Jim, I'm planning on attending the June meeting so I guess I'll get all the info while I'm there.

I second Amberjack's statement ~ definitely check with Reefalot. He creates and maintains some amazing tanks.

maintaining/ service tanks is what Reefalot does for his living.. and he maintains many business tanks (dental offices, restaurant, hospital...). He also makes acrylic equipment (ca rxtr, skimmers, etc..) for his customers too.

Speedangel ~ I'd love to see pictures of any large reef tanks you set up and maintain...do you have an online gallery of your clients' tanks?

I'd also like to see your tanks but the webaddress you provide is not correct.

my webaddress should work fine. however i have not been able to update my site for a long time. i don't have a digital camera right now. as to the tanks that i have setup and maintained, i don't have any pics of them online. as a matter of fact i a not sure where the pics are right now. after i got divorced most of my stuff was lost or is in a box. i will see if i can hunt them down and post them on my site.

First you should make sure your site works at all, since as long as you've been posting here I've been clicking your link to see your tanks, and it's never worked.

Did you just setup that tank? Is it still cycling? It doesn't look so swell. :?

the pics are of the tank when it was still cycling. those pics are about 2 months old. it now has critters in it and 3 corals. the corals are all frags but they are doing really good. and also remember that that tank is being done on a really low budget so it is going to take awhile for it to get looking really good.

You know I"ve heard you talk about getting into this hobby, and wanting to learn alot about it...

Maybe before you jump in with both feet into taking care of a 200 gallon reef aquarium you should get some experience in the field...you are talking about thousands of dollars in livestock for a tank like this.

See here's where the cool part comes in, you've said you need a job, that you are an unemployed college student who's moving from doing freshwater to marine and reef tanks. On the same note, there are alot of fish stores out there that, imagine this, hire people to work at their stores, and maybe even get some experience in maintaining large reef setups...

With some specific experience you could even move into a position where you are doing what reefalot does, or ADG...but you are going to need quite a bit more, I think, before customer's are going to hire you to maintain their high dollar tanks...

Just a thought ya know...

No wonder he said he'd charge the lowest fee :D you get what you pay for
Not sure if speedangel knew that to do maintenace service, he may need to buy some insurance too since the customers can sue you for damage on their systems (eg. leaks on piping/ equipment to their carpets..). It's not simple as just testing the water/ do water changes..

guys i already have done this type thing on 3 reef tanks. all in size of 250 - 500. Thats what i get for working at a pet shop. anyway, if i couldn't do it i would let them know.

oh and BTW i have had a SW tank since i was 6. it was my rents tank and until a short time ago i couldn't touch it except to clean it and do upkeep. so when i "started" i the hobby i was really just starting another tank.
