Picked up a used system from a guy in Victoria. The tank is a 210 Oceanic. Will be installing a Beananimal overflow and re-staining the stand to match the current decor in my office. I will be taking down my 110 in the process and will post it for sale soon. Here is a couple pictures of the dirty work. More to come!!!!

Lucky you! My wife barely let me get a new tank, no way will she help with any more of it, except for maybe moving it into place. Good luck on the build!

Awesome to hear, Steve! Very cool of your wife to help with the rock, too. :)

Are you going to do a mike13oy-mod, and remove the center brace for a metal one? Personally, I would just because I hate trying to clean underneath those things when they are setup (salt creep, and whatnot). Either way, looks like a great build and a great size tank! Good luck to ya'!

I actually thought the same thing after I posted the pictures. I mentioned to my wife to not let me forget to take pictures. I was in the middle of cleaning up pumps when she reminded me. She is one of a kind!!!!

Man that's a lot of work. Sometimes I wonder why do we go through so much hell for this hobby? :?

BTW, run some GFO through that rock. It looks like it was used for a FO tank.

I asked the guy that I got all the rock from if he knew any of the water parameters that the rock was in and he said he never measured. I just started bleaching all the rock and will do a muratic acid bath after that to minimize the phosphate issue if there was one. I wont be using the rock any time soon so I thought I would just do it right and not have to worry about any left over nastys from his tank.

There must have been all kinds of stuff still left on the rock. This is a picture after I put it in a 1:10 solution of clorox bleach

This will be used after it rinses and drys for a couple of days. If anyone copies this technique make sure you are wearing goggles and gloves and nutralize the acid with baking soda when done.

After the acid dip...soak it in RO/DI water for a week or two if you got the time.

where did youget your acid from? how do you dispose of it, if you don't mind me asking. may want to try this, have some rocks with hair algae, i think they are leaching phosphates. not all of my rocks have HA, in the same tank.

Felix:

I got the acid from lowes. You should be able to pick it up at any hardware store or pool company. After you neutralize the acid with baking soda you need to dilute it with lots of water and it can then go down any drain or on your yard. I plan on doing the acid bath in the morning. Wish me luck.
