so i've plumbed up my closed-loop sqwd powered by a magdrive 7 pump, and the pump is leaking. the pump is new, just opened the box, and it looks like it is leaking from one of the edges, along a seam. is there anything i can do to stop this leaking? anyone been here before? thanks guys.

are there any screws on the unit that could be tightened to seal the gasket tighter? If not you might have to send the unit in for replacement.

You could also (assuming you put ball valves or something on the closed loop to allow this) pull the pump out, and try to use some Silicon Caulk around the seal. If it is a slow "drip" leak (not a shooting jet (i.e. under pressure)) then this would probably stop the creep....

Wildfire is correct I have had a couple external leaking mag drives. Just pull the cover off put silicone around where the o-ring is (leave it in) and then close it screw it back down tightly and let it dry a few hours.

I'd rather have a replacement than try to fix a new leaking pump. JMO

Once you start messing with it, I bet that voids the warranty and they would not take it back if something else goes wrong or if the silicone does not fix the problem.

my mag9.5 started leaking recently.
I have hooked it up externally before without a leak, and recently I tried moving it to external again and this time, it had a leak from a seem somewhere.
I just put it back in my sump and said forget it......
