set up a new 50 gallon tank and over the last 10 yrs that ive been in the hobby have always been able to dial in the skimmer within a few minutes. this one though has me scratching my head as i cant keep the skimmer from bubbling and overflowing. this is the 1st tank that i didnt use lr and went with cured rock and a bubble magus curve 5 skimmer. the skimmer isnt making skimmate but just bubbles. skimmer has been going for 2 hrs now. any ideas? thanks in advance

That is normal bud. Some skimmer takes weeks to break in on brand new tank.

Raise it about a inch or more, adjust to that point that it doesn't overflow anymore and let it break in.
Sometimes it can take a day or two.
Keep an eye out now and then and adjust as it will settle down.
I've had many skimmers and all needed a break in period, except the Lifereef skimmer.
I've since three years a Lifereef and never go any different, break in time was ZERO from day one and been running since then.

I usually have all my problems with the venturi. Have you removed it and inspected it? It might be partially plugged up.
