That's really cool. I'd turn one vertical and push it towards the back. That would shoot water all behind my rock work. Interesting design.

Wonder how much heat that motor will add to the tank water??? In my case that is half the reason for the vortech

Well if it adds heat to the tank then you can always turn off the heaters. I don't like the vortechs because you can't change their angles like you can the Jebao WP's but my control box I think got zapped by a power surge and will not go back to it's normal settings anymore... And I do have mine on power surge strips.
