I've been running this for over a month and my red algae is getting worst.I hold my Calcium reactor for couple of weeks thinking that CO2 may have contributed to this problem but it seems to continue. The flow at the reactor is slow cause I don't have a stonger pump to drive it(could this be a problem too?)I appreciate any comments/thoughts.Thanks.

I run about 75 ml in a TLF reactor with a small pump( maybe 200 gph). It keeps it moving, fluidlike, and it has helped bring my nitrates/ phosphates down. I have a 100 gallon heavy fish stocked, moderate sps lps reef-in-a-tub! No sand, no sump, only LR, skimmer, NP reactor. I use kalk top-off, no other dosing.

Nitrates yes but does it also lowers PO4?

You say red algae. Are you talking about cyano? If so, it seems pretty typical for folks deploying solid carbon sources to experience a bacterial bloom and outbreak of cyano in the first couple of months of use.

WRT the question about flow in your reactor. Conventional wisdom is that flow should be strong enough to tumble the pellets thus preventing slime buildup and to help the bacteria slough off into your sump. There's a lengthy thread on solid carbon dosing in the reef chemistry forum on RC.

Cyano

Yes,It's cyano bacteria.Bevoboy,I think I should increase the flow and wait for more time.

Yes, I believe it did. It is directly related to starting the pellets.

I too had Cyano but it was not from what all is being mentioned above.... It was the water that I was buying from the LFS.. i stopped using their water and make my own and now I have very, very, little cyano if any.

E,

ive been using NP for about 4 months, not sure if its good or bad...i know my tank looks great, no HA, brio, nada. i guess its working, but hard to tell since i didnt start with any ailments. stick it out for awhile, see what happens. im still running my sulphur denitrator, but with a very small amount.
