Ok,I'm here again........Which LED brand is most popular?Good coral growth/coloring? (1 Viewer)

With my other hobby,I'm kinda lost with what's going on/new trend in reefkeeping.Some of the folks who stopped by yesterday when I did a 4hrs coral sale are using LED.I know it's been in the market for quite sometime and I'm sure a lot of improvements has been made.My number one concern is......coral (SPS) growth and colorization.Which LED is popular these days?Thanks.

They just arent quite there yet in comparison to MH/VHO combo as far as coloration goes. Growth yes. I have seen one custom made unit that did a very good job, but it was custom made. I would say in another 6 months or so you will see units that are keeping up color wise with vho/mh.

I don't agree ostentum, I've seen a bunch of SPS and other tanks that have been purely LED lit from the beginning and have absolutely amazing color. This is probably my favorite out of many examples:

To the OP, there are tons if fixtures out there, AI SOL, Radion, Kessel, Maxspect, and Ecoxotic are ask popular brands of fixtures in different formats and price ranges depending on your application. Plus there is always DIY with Cree LED's and Meanwell drivers being very popular.

I agree with ostentum, commercial leds imo are lacking in the aesthetics dept. Custom units don't really have, that problem since they are all individually hand made and designed. Even the radion looks great but for $700 and only 2 clusters I don't see it being worth it.

LED's rock! Just what Gabe said. And I'm to find out soon, he's making me a custom LED with housing for my 25 gallon NANO reef. On the moment I got AI sol Blue running and have to say do like that LED fixtures too. I'm happy with it and my corals are doing great but going custum will be even better.

I use 24" Ecoxotic Panorama LED fixture. very happy with it. I would buy it again. No heat, very bright, nice coral grow (hard coral growing like crazy)
