I know I have been lurking a lot more than posting lately, but I am hoping to change that and try to become a bit more active around here! I figured my tanks one year anniversary is a good place to start..... I took my first steps into the world of reef tanks one year ago this week. May 8th was the day my aquarium was filled with water. After running for 24 hours with no problems or leaks, I added the salt on May 9th..... My live rock was still on order, so I got to look at an empty tank for about a week! This is what the tank looked like on May 14th 2004....

I am also giving my web site a long overdue update, so hopefully it will be up and running in a few days! :thumb:

I'll have to get an up to date tank shot today or tomorrow Kenny. Besides, it took me a year to get to this point, so I figured I could just make everyone else wait at least a few days! Here is what my tank looked like a year ago today when I started putting in the live rock..... The arch, although quite and engineering feat, didn't last long. I had to take it down due to it not being very practical for the reef, and due to some questionable stability!

I have started to update the website a bit. Here is a link to the fish page....

It is still a work in progress......

Thanks all! That arch was pretty cool, and if I were doing a fish only I probably would have left it. I think I spent over an hour moving the rocks around and getting them just right to build the arch and make it somewhat stable. Since then I have only rearranged the rock a dozen times or so.....

Looking very good Robert and Trish. Do you consisder try some other acros because the two pieces you have look very healthy and the color up nicely too. Just in case some members don't know Robert running VHO and some T5 (I think) on his tank.

We are running a VHO/T5 combo. 4x110 VHO and 2x54 T5. I am not a student of Acro's so I don't really know all the different types and names. It does seem though, that certain Acros can do very well and color up nicely under VHO or T5. Here are a couple more Acro's that I have growing that are starting to show some color potential. The pictures are not great since I have a hard time getting the camera in a good spot to take a picture, but it should give you and idea what they look like.....

I also have a millipora that I have grown from a frag that is doing well. I think that with VHO you can keep acropora alive and healthy, what color it will be is the big question. I'll keep experimenting with frags that I think will color up nicely and see if I can't grow some colorful, VHO friendly Acros.....
