So if any of you know (I have posted previously on this issue) I have been having a phosphorus issue. At some points its been reading higher than 200... really really really unpleasant stuff. Well finally I tested my phosphorus today and its at 5! Thats 0.01533 for you phosphate people! I'm so glad that I finally got control over this issue that I had to share the excitement!

So it sounds like you got the ULR range hanna meter that reads in ppb phosphorous. Just be aware that is very sensitive and very subject to error if test vials and testing procedures aren't followed. I don't even use mine anymore... I use the PPM phosphate meter and let corals/algae tell me whats going on.

So far, the phosphorous ULR has been really accurate. I test it 2 or 3 times just to make sure I'm not testing wrong... you know, try and take out human error. As long as I get close to the same reading (with in 3 ppb difference) then I am ok with that.

I am not completely sure what did it to be honest. Some algae growth to be sure. I added a HUGE amount of chaeto, a 4 inch clam, and 5 to 7 gallon water changes on a 60+ refugium system. I was about to put GFO or Kent marine phosphate sponge in a reactor, no lie I had the marine sponge in my hand next to my reactor. I am so glad I tested first otherwise I could have REALLY jacked up my tank. Oh and I also upped my NO3PO4-x from 2 to 3 mls per 25 gallons. Before I thought I was dosing properly but it turned out that I was only doses for a 25 gallon tank.
