Are plastic jugs harmful for aquariums? I found a 1 gallon drinking jug at walmart that would work perfect for my dosing pump. It is not BPA free and there is absolutely nothing special about it other than it fits in the space I need it to. It does not even say if it is food grade, but its purpose is to hold drinking water. I know that practically everything for aquariums is plastic (pipes, pumps, crates...) but I am not sure of the differences in plastics and being reef safe.

It's a safe bet that if they are selling it for drinking water it will be safe for your aquarium.

I agree. I use some wal mart jugs for Kool aid or juice for 2 part. No issues
