My son has 2 RW-8 or 15's wavemakers in his tank. When he put them in he could only put them on 4 or 5 before they were too strong. They were blowing things off the rocks and stirring up sand. But I have them cranked up all the way and they are just strong enough.

Has anyone else had them slow down?

I may need to get a couple more.

Give them a good cleaning. Works for my Jaebos everytime. If I don't do it every 3 months, the flow is way slower.

Simply taking them apart and scrubbing the propeller magnet and the shaft it goes in will fix that. The jebao pumps are a great value and can really move water. But their Achilles heel is that their motors are fairly low torque and once some bacterial film/gunk builds up in that 1 mm space between the propeller magnet and the plastic housing, it slows down the propeller substantially

When was the last time you clean them? and I mean a vinegar bath overnight removing the impeller and using a toothbrush
They were cleaned in a vinegar bath no more then 2 months ago. They do have a little growth on them but not that much. I will clean them tonight to make sure that's not the problem.

It's not the cage getting dirty it's the bio film on the impeller that slows it down. They need a quick scrub every month or two

This is what I do when I clean mine.
remove from tank
fill bucket with water
add vinegar
turn pump on inside buck and run for an hour or 2
brush the cage
rinse and put back in the tank.

sometimes if you give it a vinegar bath without running the pump, they fail. at least that's what happened to the first one I owned. they may have improved the build quality a little, since then.

I'll check but I've had for over 2 years and they were not this sensitive when they first went into the tank. This just started happening.I'm not talking about just a little slow down I'm talking about a lot. A little film should not diminish the output this severely.
