Pump to Use (1 Viewer)

Looking for a return pump about 400 gph @ 5ft. Thinking of the mag 7. I see alot of people using these. Don't want to spend a fortune on the pump, yet want something reliable , quiet and cool. Ant suggestions or prior experience with mags wanted.

Mags are not cool at all. I would look for a used Eheim if possible. They are excellent and run very cool. Not cheap, but a used one is better than a new Mag.

scubamedic is now a distributor for gen-x pumps -- they have pretty good rep and he might be able to get you a deal.

I have the smaller dolphin pumps. They are quiet and run cool. I would get the DP 560.

I've had several mags, mag3, mag5, mag9, mag18. I've never had a problem with any of them. I think they're great pumps for the money.
