I have a 140 gallon tank. I have had a purple tang for probably about a year. He has grown and really never bothered anybody. About 3 weeks ago, I got a blue spotted jaw fish. The poor baby has already lost part of his tail and jumped in the overflow. He comes out to eat but other than that stays in his little area...no problem. My tang however continues to stay real close to him and I know is stressing him out. I have added other fish like a yellow coris wrasse and starry eyed blenny and the tang paid attention for a few days and then went about his way. This thing he has with the jaw fish is really starting to worry me. Any thoughts or suggestions?? Thanks and Happy New Year!!

It appears that I am going to have to move the jaw fish....my tang is relentless which is such a change for him... I am going to try and put the jaw fish into my nano which is currently empty but for a few zoas and mushrooms. Maybe this will give the little guy a break....And this morning I found that my yellow coris wrasse had also passed on with the help of something else. Could this be my tang or could this be my pistol shrimp. Help please?

I have the same situation with a purple tang. I have had him for 5+ years now. The only thing I have done in the past that improved the situation a little was to put one of my wife's "make up mirrors" against the outside of the glass. The kind of mirror that has about a 2 or 3X magnifaction. He watched the larger image of himself a lot more than he spent chasing the new fish.

LOL...that's a neat idea...my tank is in wall though so I would have to put it in front...And I can just imagine that tang keeping an eye on that big thing across from him....I don't mind that he chases my fish a little but my jaw fish lost most of his tail and I am not pleased about that at all...
