Okay im about to setup a 5.5 gallon tank. I have the filter which is a AC (the one for 10-20 gallon tanks) I'll be moding it soon. This tank will house a mantis. lighting is either a 18 watt orbit fixture or 3 10watt corlife pc screw in bulbs. my main Q is will a tube anenome do alright in this tank? with zoas and mushrooms.

Tube anemones are non-photosynthetic, I believe. If the water quality is good it should be fine. You'll probably need to feed it.

whats the chance of it killing any other corals in a 5.5 ? thats my main concern.

I am concerned about the mantis. He can cut right through a 5 gallon tank with ease. Make sure he likes his environment.

Actually the only mantis recorded to break the glass is the peacock. Which belongs in a 20L minimum. Okay its not the only one but it the one every one hears about. Its very rare the other smaller ones ever break the glass. The only storied i have heard is when one is in its cave and accidently strikes the bottom. Most others that you find in TBS LR and other species stay fairly small and wont break it. I had one before and it struck the tank many time but not even a crack. Dr. Roy on RC has some cool pics of peacocks breaking glass. I plan on a g. smitty or another small species.

The chances the tube anemone will kill stuff in a 5.5g are pretty good. First they need a 2-3in deep sandbed to bury into. Second they get large. Third, they have a very powerful sting.

I'd skip it. Or at least wait on it until you have another larger tank to move it into when it outgrows the 5.5g.

I agree with incysor. Go with a less lethal and yet pretty anemone like a tuplip. Tubes can kill and will

I'm not sure about this one.

I've seen aquarium displays where they had several together and touching and they were fine, but they were the same color.

I tried putting my orange and purple one in with my pink one and they both looked a bit unhappy. Several of the tenacles that were near the pink one were pulled in. I decided to just be safe and moved the smaller two over to the octo tank and placed them on different sides of the tank.
