Question about MH (1 Viewer)

I just purchased a Hamilton Mh fixture and here is the problem that i encounter with it:
it is a 2x175watts MH and 2x110 VHO
when i turn it on the VHO turn on right away but the Mh will not turn on, it will just flicker or one of them will come on first then the other one will come on a few minute later.
is this because of the bulb or is it because my house does not have enough wattages to run them?

If you leave it turned on, do the MH eventually come on?

If so, it's probably normal.

they will eventually turn on but on eat a time not all at once and the lady i bought it from at her house they both turned on at once :?

If I remember correctly, Hamilton will say there is nothing wrong with that, as long as it turns on within an hour of being turned on.

I'm not sure though, you may want to contact them and ask.

I had a Hamilton fixture like that both would turn on then one would go out only to turn on later. I wouldn't worry.

It would be helpful to know what bulb and ballast you have. Certain ballasts are meant to fire certain bulbs. Sometimes you can get away with using the wrong bulb on a ballast and you will see hard starting like you are describing. Even if the bulb fires, it is very hard on the bulb to fire them that way and it will shorten it's life.

ok thank you guys, i went upstair and tried on the bulbs and they both fired at once so i guess my power supply couldnt handle it downstair or something, and for the bulbs and the ballast they both from hamilton.
