Is it okay if I bag my corals individually and bring color pictures of them in my tank? I don't have a tank to display them and figure they will transport better bagged and in a styrofoam container.

Would anyone be interested in electrocuting some majanos and apitasia? I purchased Paul B's (from RC) Zapper and have greatly enjoyed melting those little suckers away. If someone has some rock with those pests and a tank (it must be done in the water) I'll be happy to demo. It's exciting to finally get an upper hand on those majanos. I should add that this doesn't affect the fish or corals.

Thanks,

Wayne

Some have done it that way or even bring a laptop with a slideshow with the pictures

How

Tinman,

Here is my oversimplified explanation, the device has a small needle at the end where the current is directed. When turned on it produces small bubbles, possible Ammonia, Hydrogen, O2, etc. It isn't known if it is the current or possibly the gases, but the anemone will turn white and melt away.

Paul B is the inventor and is a retired electrician. He and others at Reef Central have been doing this for some time with no negative effects on the fish or corals. Since I couldn't get any thing else to work I decided to take a chance on this. I did some majanos that were mixed in with some zoas last week and the majanos are gone and the zoas look fine.

The only drawback is that you have to touch the whole thing until it is all white and melting. If not, it will come back. I have rocks that cannot/won't be moved and I doubt I will be able to adequately reach all the majanos. Thus, I will always probably have some in my tank and have to do occasional maintenance to keep them in check.

The good news is I can easily wipe out any that are in plain view. After a few treatments my tank looks so much better. Oh, and the wife and kids like to get in on the zapping action :D
