I have 4 to 5 red mushrooms in my 55 gallon tank that keep leeching their red color onto the substrate. They open up beautifully, and are not bothered by anything, but seem to "bleed" alot. Any suggestions appreciated.

I could be wrong on this, but it might be that you bought some dyed mushrooms and they're now releasing it.

How's your water quality? The other thought is that you've got some parameters that are out of whack and your mushrooms are telling you to fix it or else.

My water parameters are great, i do weekly water changes, yes weekly, and everything else in the tank is fine. Just the red mushrooms keep "bleeding".

Get yourself a little bottle of chemi-clean, which will be in a small ziplock plastic bag with a spoon in it. If it is indeed a cyano outbreak...

Stuff's about 18 bucks, but it will last you a number of years and is good to have for cyano outbreaks.

I've used it three times... worked darn near overnight and doesn't hurt anyting else in your tank. Most all LFS have it.

must be something else, I've never heard of corals leaching color unless they dyed.
