So i just sent Red Sea support an email, because I've had nothing but trouble with keeping their new refractometer calibrated.
After the email was sent their USA contact info pops up and low and behold, it's a Houston address.
I may need to go knock knock on their door with my grumpy refractometer!

They need to be a sponsor. :thumb:

WOW.

So i heard back.
Apparently you HAVE to calibrate before each use.
Mine changes up to 5 ppt in a week!
So much for reef builders review of this being the best refractometer evarrrr. :mmph:

No doubt it's bright and clear but not that big of a difference.
What it does is require 200% of your time! Instead of one test, I have to do two? That's redonkulous IMHO.
I've got an email into Marine Depot to see what their return policy is on this.

I saw that on the flyer, but I was thinking forum sponsorship. ;)
That's good though, because if they keep ignoring my subsequent emails, the rep and I are going to have a little chat at the show. :argue:

Haha do we need to hire a bouncer as well? You know your events are really reaching the big leagues when you need security.

Calibrate before each use??[emoji107]

Exactly!

I got a cheap $45 refrac. probably 8 years ago and still in use. I caliberate every 3-4 months. I do keep couple of different caliberation fluids type just to make sure it's functioning properly.

I'm going to give it one more chance over the next week and make sure I test when my tank is at the exact same temp each time.

Our refractometer has very accurate and sensitive temperature compensation and this is why we see the variations

Yep they sure are in Houston. I have stopped by a couple times. They are on the north side on Rankin Rd. Pass by them every day going home.
