I have been over taken by red and green slime. I have tried the Chemiclean red slime remover with no results. I have tried to double and triple the dosage but this stuff will not work for me. Any suggestions???
By the way this is in my 29 gal biocube

i got lambasted for saying so on another board...but during ike, jmy lights were off for 4-5 days. got rid of all my cyano. its hard to do though, unless your forced into situation likr ike(keeping lights off). now sand is white as can be. your case might be so severe, this might not help. i think a sand sifting goby would help your cause, not too sure if its the fix.

I don't care if I get lambasted, he called me and that's exactly what I told him. He has tons of flow and a good skimmer and the Red Slime product didn't work. I did the same thing but I left mine off for over a week, very risky, and it took care of the problem.

Let 'em roast us for it...

had the same thing happen in my nano turn lights off did a water change. cleared up most if it. after i turned the lights back on put a ball of chito in some plastic mesh bag and let it float. worked great.

I recently had this problem and was given the lights out advice by a couple of marshians. I went for 4 days no lights and it cleared up my problem too. Sand looks like the day I bought it.

is there a relation with the lights being off but its the temperature of the water that drops a few degrees which fixes the algea problem

im just wondering. i still have cyano but its most likely my ro/di water that is really bad. but the temp has dropped a bit and my algea is drying up and thinning out. no change in lighting.
