Is Reef Currents still a thing? Asking for a friend.

Well, that's a long story. @gregg can talk to it more, but the short of the story is just lack of people to put it on. Most of the current directors have been working for the club as volunteers for 6-8 years now, and it's a lot of work to make Reef Currents happen. I'm sure some of us older farts would be interested in putting it on if there was help.

If the`show was back at the airport I think it would do well. the key is would be if the people with all the contacts had the energy to do it.
officers who worked and put in the hours never really got the credit they deserved.

From what I remember, it was a popular show. Lots of vendors! As far as hobbyists, it did seem pretty packed last time I was there. Maybe just a sign of the times these days? Out of the Aquashellas, frag swaps, and Reefapaloozas I’ve been to, Reef Currents was my favorite. Our area has some fire LFS! If the interest and resources are there, it would be awesome to host another one in the future. Minus the popular national vendors, Houston alone almost has enough to have our own show/frag swap. I’ll name a few that I know (not in any order)…Aquarium Design Group, FJW, Unlimited Color Corals, and Ocean Life Aquariums.

This does not even include fellow hobbyists who sell/trade some nice pieces here on the forum.

The more I think about it, the more I wish.

Sometimes Happy Reefing Coral Expo will come to town. They were here last year in May and November.
