Update: Tank hasn't changed much since the last picture. I've been waiting till I got back from my vacation to really get working on it again but not sure what I want to do. I really would like to downsize but funding isn't there for me to buy a new tank. If anything I think I want to move everything from the garage but won't have space with the size sump I have and location in the house. Really kind of stuck and discouraged. Life is also really busy right now. So hopefully I can figure it out and get the tank back to where I had it but it might take me a while longer.

i just know everything will come out amazing just like the tank you had before. just gonna take some time. so what r u dosing? not enough bottles for moonshine or MS lite. i see AB+..
Thanks, I am using RedSea's Trace color pack, AB+, and Brightwells NeoNitro. Yes, you can leave AB+ out for 7 days from what I've read. I fill the bottle weekly over halfway. Which lasts me 7 days on my current dosing.

I was battling Dinos but seem to have them under control now. Just added a 25w Auqa Aquatics UV last week. Hopefully, SPS will start to take off now I'm not battling Dinos.

Been thinking about that. BRS has Korallenzucht coral system on sale but I was reading very little observed difference between that and the RS and RS is substantially cheaper. The next step is MS or MS lite but that’s too much for me.

Curious, what was your strategy for getting the Dinos under control? Was it just the UV or did you do other things as well?
It started I believe from low Nitrates. I bottomed out and was having a huge bloom in Chaeto and Grape Caulerpa so I'm thinking this is what caused it. I don't typically test weekly for this. But I started to get color loss and checked. I put my lights on the acclimation setting for 2 months and started to dose NeoNitro, things started to look better again but during that time my doser lost its settings and went about 6 days without dosing. Re- configured it and got it going again but was still having to blast my SPS with a turkey baster 2-3 times a day. Finally ordered the UV and after about 5 days of dosing, it is mostly clear. Still very light on the sand bed but corals are no longer having an issue.

In short: Lower light levels, dosing neonitro (Nitrates), and UV

I have some of the Korallenzucht but haven't used it yet. My old system before the crash never dosed just calcium reactor also I never really did water changes. Maybe 5 gallons every 2 months or more. I was using the all for reef before I set up the reactor again. It seemed to keep my system pretty stable on alk.

When i fought Dino’s, i was cruising at bottom for a while not thinking anything of it since my old school ways taught me to always aim for the lowest nutrients possible (because it was pretty much impossible to hit 0 on Po4 & No3) the dinos hit so hard i had never seen anything like it. I would suck out most of it with daily water changes by the end of the day it was so thick the water itself was choking. Everything was brown with brown dino colums floating in the water. i tried no light cycles it was all a nightmare. i finbally gave up and used vibrant. That worked and then gave me a serious case of cyano. That, in turn, forced me into chemiclean but once that all was cleared up, i was able to monitor and by dosing KnoX to maintain low Po4 adn No3 levels avoiding another outbreak. That has held for a couple of years now.
