Just curious as to who here runs a DSB in their fuge?

I'm currently running a 4" DSB in my fuge and am curious as to what critters I need to add to it. I read somewhere once that you need to have certain types of worms, starfish, pods and others creatures for it to function correctly.

I realize, after a time, it will be crawling with pods

Any ideas?

I am running a 4" DSB in my fuge, but I never added anything specific for it other than caulerpa and other macro algaes. I am now removing the caulerpa for other macros, but I never added any "kits," if that is what you are looking for.

When I added the caulerpa I got a variety of pods, mini brittle stars, spaghetti worms, and many other critters that now thrive in the fuge. If you are interested I can sell you some of my caulerpa to help start up your fuge. It is thriving with all of this life.

If you are interested, send me a PM.

I have 4" sandbed on top of a plenum in the fuge. I understand that plenums are losing popularity but I wanted to DIY some stuff :)

Same as Jim here, I got some live sand from others along with some macro and some LR.. sand is showing lots of life only months later.

After cycling my tank for two weeks, I took a trip to global for some macro's and live sand. My fuge, and the rest of my tank for that matter, is currently a bug factory. Most of the pods are tiny, a bit bigger than a pinhead. I havent noticed any worms other than the small bristle worms that came in the live sand.

I plan on bringing a small cup of live sand to the next galveston collection trip at the end of this month if anyone is interested in trading.
