When I bought my 260 (8 foot) I replaced the front glass with starphire and it was still much cheaper than a new tank. Partially depends on who does it - if interested I can try and dig their number up, guys name was Eric, local tank builder, but they changed locations right during my swap out.

Found it - Eric Haug - texas ocean aquatics http://www.texasoceanaquatics.com/
also runs a reptile shop and believe this is his new location and number http://ultimatereptiles.com/
He also does pick up and drop off for cheap. Mention my tank and the pricing having been good on starphire and see what that would cost versus regular glass. It wasn't that much more at the time, but this was a few years ago. Well worth the difference in price (only a couple hundred then).

Eric doesn't swap out Starphire anymore.
8 months ago I had a tank for him to do so and his answer was no.
He does only regular or the new Crystal low iron glass, he was backed up for a few months and his prices are changed too.
Just FYI.
It can hurt to just check.

Any low iron glass should be better (clearer) than the regular float used that is greenish. Aks to see samples for comparison.
