I just got a 58 gallon and I really like the look of a tank without any trim on the top or bottom (usually custom tanks).

I was wondering if the trim acts as a bracing at all?

And would it be ok to fill it up without it on there. If it is acting as a brace, I was thinkning about adding a glass euro brace. What do yall think?

TANK

From what the oceanic rep that visits our store told me is that the trim is only used as a so called "stencil" to putting the pieces of glass together and in no way affects the structural integrity of the tank itself.

the trim shouldn't affect anything on the tank, purely cosmetic. If the trim is on there and you are thinking about taking it off, be very careful. I've personally seen tanks chip when you just start ripping it off, take a razor and just take your time with it.

let us know how it goes and keep the camera handy

Something else to keep in mind the glass on a tank with trim is most likely not polished adn may be chipped unlike the trimless tanks they make the glass look nice and polish those.

Tank has been sitting full of water without the trim (in the garage of course) for a few days now, everything looks fine.
The trim was pretty difficult to get off, but I did not chip any of the edges in the process so I'm happy.
Just letting yall know the outcome.

good deal. From my experience chipping is the most detrimental. I worked at a store in Plano, and we installed a trimless tank that ended up leaking twice. The first two that leaked had noticeable chips, so we removed the trim from the third one ourselves, no chips, and it worked great.
