Just figured I would let everyone know it is back. We went Friday and Saturday night collecting and found some cool stuff.

I stood on the jetty in front of Rainforest Cafe on Saturday after the Moody Gardens Tour but didn't catch anything cool :(

We were netting the sargassum with a net from the rocks. Maybe I should've waded out like a man and collected sargassum in the surf instead? All we saw were little shrimps and crabs

We will be going to the rocks were the sargassum gets stuck at and go through it. That is were I found a really dark brown fish "angler" he still has not grown any since I got him about a month ago.

Let me see if I get the idea. I want to go again and catch something this time. So Im supposed to wade out to waist deep water with a net and a bucket and a flashlight strapped to my head. I take the net, scoop up some floating seaweed and put it in the bucket. Then I use my flashlight to look around for pipefish and anglers and seahorses? Or should I take the bucket to shore to look through it? Any tips on stuff to bring that makes it easier or more effective?

That is one way to do it, but that a lot of work. I have made a net out of pvc and thick solar screen. (It can be found in the garden center at Home Depot or Lowes.)
What I do is scoop up under the sargassum and then grab the sargassum shake it into the net. I also drag a bait bucket with me,
