Will the tides caused by the supermoon this Saturday wash anything onto the beach, or will it all wash back out?
I'm not sure tides make a lot of difference to the sargassum washing up on the beach. It's all about wind direction and speed.
BTW, there were large rafts of sargassum coming ashore all day today. My sweetie went walking on the beach this morning and she said the sargassum was about 3 feet thick right at the water line...
Conditions look real good for collecting this weekend.
good luck,
Steve
Sargassum washed up yesterday due to east swell in the water. Huge rafts of it. Tons of fish and numerous reports from galveston and surfside of large bull sharks in the water chasing bait fish.
Is it safe to go swimming there?
I've been surfing here for almost 25 years and have never been bit and don't know a single person that has been bit (one friend got bit in FL but that doesn't count). Just watch the water when you are out there. If there are a bunch of baitfish moving erratically or you get a bad vibe I would go in. I'm more concerned with stingrays and jellyfish than sharks. Shuffle your feet!
If there are Bull Sharks chasing bait fish I would have to say NO.
What I would like to know will we be able to see this "Supermoon" here in Houston?
She walks the beach on the west end of the Seawall, but really, when it's coming in the best thing to do is just ride around looking for it.Which beach area was she at??? One of the beach pockets? Are by the Rainforest Cafe area??
