does anyone know how to open one of these SCWDs?
i think something might have gotten caught in it
trying to see if i can open and fix it

I think you are outta luck my friend. Same thing happened to me, when I tried to getting moving again, but only made things worse. Scwds are a great concept and awesome when they work. but they need to be better constructed.
