I’ve been struggling with my hammer corals the last month or so. They have been perfectly healthy for the longest time and now they are peeling off the skeletons. So my gut feeling was that it was something I was doing wrong…something with my flow, parameters, disease…nope. I caught one of my yellow tangs having a blast ripping tentacles off one of these poor hammers! Has anyone else experienced this? I’m shocked! These mischievous little turds are extremely well fed btw. 😤

I had two different yellows do that as well. Got rid of them shortly after that. Never again. My purple tang while a bit of jerk to new fish (sometimes requiring time out in the sump or mirror battle time) has never bothered a single coral.

Of course now that I say that....

It was actually my green candy canes, but yes, the hippo loved them. Thanks goodness they healed fast so he didn't do much damage.

Okay just caught my purple nippin at my red candy canes ... these fish are hungry all the time. 👹

I have had angels tangs and damsels ..wrasses.... Never had a fish show signs of nibbling or any other damage to a coral. And I do not feed my fish a lot of food. So you just never know.
