Anyone ever seen anything like this? It's claws are bigger than his body.

It's only about .5" - .75". I think it was living inside a Cynarina coral. I put the coral in the tank & as soon as I got off the ladder & looked at it the shrimp was sitting on it right by the mouth.

see, the thing is, it is too large to be considered a larval stage. most larval stages in shrimp are planktonic and microscopic for the most part. this shrimp is obviously not microscopic and apparently not planktonic, but benthic.

another indication that it isn't larval, is the fact that it looks like a shrimp. most larval stages don't look a whole lot like the adult. this one looks similar to adult shrimp. it has fully developed claws and is lacking overtly large head appendages.

very cool craig. still not a true pistol shrimp, but very cool.

has it changed color in your tank at all?
