I've got a big Sinularia rasta coral that has been thriving for several months. However, all the polyps have been closed for the last few days, much like it always does at night when the lights are off. Everything else in the tank is doing fine and the parameters are great. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Bobby

Try using a turkey baster to blast water at the leather. See if it is trying to "shed" it's slime coat. Leathers will do this from time to time and will be back to normal in a day or two.

My Sin. shrinks and sheds every 3-4 weeks so it could be shedding.

I second the turkey baster suggestion. I baster mine off pretty regularly during its shedding process. Make sure none of the material its sheds lands on any LPS.

My Trach. Geoffryi gets majorly pissed off when that stuff goes flying around the water column.

According to Eric Borneman, Sinularia and notorious for chemical warfare with LPS.
