My red dragon pump crapped out today. I took it apart and the impellar looks fine but I cleaned it anyhow. The pump seems to work but had a hard time to get the impeller to turn. Any ideas? Anyone carry good skimmers locally?

I've lost the PM, but there's a member that had a spare Red Dragon pump that he might sell, if it's still available hopefully he'll speak up.

There are quite a few BM NAC7's around town, but your tank is pretty large!

I am sure its an impellar issue as the pops in and pops out. I am going to call jaime at fish gallery and see if they can fix it or order the part. I think if I change skimmer I may try that bubble magnus cone skimmer. I guess when it rains it pours on my poor tank. Had I just not bought new lights from 3CC this might have retired my reef tank for a while.

Have you try calling Albert @ Proline. He may send you a new one. Is it the Red Dragon 2000.

I saw an NAC6 and NAC7 at City Pets today. It would hold you over and you could sell it for basically the same price when you get a new one. Or stick with it depending on the bioload???

Don't give up!!!!

Start fragging and if you need a place to store them I will offer some room.

Wow that's weird, i heard of so many people that are going skimmerless with their sps systems and are doing great, something else must have happened. is your tank overstocked? maybe a nitrate spike or something. or are you just pulling our legs.

Sorry to hear all that so when your tank is ready I can get you some frags.

I have left my skimmer off for a day or two once in a while and never had a problem I have also left my tank with only the powerheads on and no return for 2 days and also no issues.

I also say it's the water if not how is the water temp with the new lights you got or maybe your corals didn't like the new lights and got stressed out?

I actually have not installed the new lights. All in all I think I it was a pH issue with a slightly low alkalinity.
