I am need of a skimmer for a tank that I will be setting up sometime soon. I am looking for one that if it goes in sump that the water level flucuation wont affect the performance. Also I dont want one that has a large foot print.

The skimmer side of the sump is 12" x 9"

I was looking at Bermuda, MSX, Octo. Does not have to be these brands as long as it performs and Im trying not to go over the $350 mark.

It will have to be a recirc in order for water flucuation not hamper performance. Maybe look at the recirc lines of Octo...DNW150 or an external DDNW150.

GAW, as tas5tas mentioned fluctuating water level will always affect an in-sump skimmer's performance. This is usually not an issue if you separate the skimmer section of the sump from the return pump section with a baffle though.

Also, you can purchase an octopus in-sump skimmer brand new for well under $350 (think around $110). Your price range is more for recirculating skimmers.

Yeah the skimmer section is seperated from the fuge and return section through baffles.

the 300 mark is becuase I just spent that on a new Bermuda Rogue hob skimmer for my 58g. I figured for about the same price for a good in sump skimmer.

I could place it out of skimmer but there will be not much room in the stand after the sump is placed.

thanks for suggestions, keep em coming I have a couple weeks before I need one
