So I've got a medium bioload in my 140 currently, and I have a MSX/Octopus/Whatever 200 skimmer. To date, my results have been rather lukewarm. Apparently it is plenty skimmer, and I get some good skimmate, but I'd really like to improve the water quality in my tank and I'd rather err on the side of overskimming the tank. I'm looking at perhaps a ReefFlo Orca 200 or the like. What are some other options out there? The skimmer will be in-sump and will need a footprint at or less than the Orca (14.5"x17"). I'm looking to keep it under $1000 for the replacement. Any other options I should consider than the Orca with similar price/performance?

If you have an Octo Extreme or MSX 200 then you have more than enough skimmer for your setup. You realize the reeflo Orca 200 pulls only 10scfh more than one sicce with a mesh wheel. Did I forget to mention that the Reeflo is going to pull about 110 watts. That's twice as mush as 2 sicce pumps. If you're that intent on switching skimmers I would say buy a Hurricone Cat 1 . It comes with the askoll 1500 and pulls about 55 watts and does 75-80 scfh. Check out the sponsor thread for Reef Specialty on RC.

i want someone to buy this beast and try it out.

i am really really thinking about it,but it might be overkill for my 125.

i have the BM150, and must say i have been quite pleased with performance. very easy to set up, and consistently has been pulling hard.

quiet operations as well.
531 bux shipped for a skimmer of this size and quality....

I would, but I don't have the NW-200, I have the MSX Extreme 200. I've messed with the mesh and I was pulling low 30's, which was okay, but I still am not getting more than about 0.5"/day out of my tank, although it is pretty dark tea colored...
