During certain times of year, certain species of fish settle out from larvae and all the sudden there are a BUNCH of juveniles around. This is easy to see if you've ever been diving or snorkeling in Hawaii.

I ordered a Chevron Tang from T&T and they were able to get me a really small and really colorful juvenile - so I think the settlement must be right about now.

Here's a pic:

It's kind of blurry since he's a pretty quick fish! It's about 2" long.

I was in LFS last week and they had a TON of Yellow tangs babies. May have been 2 inches at most.

Nice picture...one of my favorite fish. I almost bought a small one from fish land last week...but decided not to. I'm trying to stay away from all type of tangs this time around.

Yeah, I remember that about the yellow tangs now that you mention it. I think there are small achilles coming in from HI as well.

I think the bristle-toothed tangs just can't be beat. They are great aglae eaters since they aren't "pickers" like the zebrasomas. They are also caprophageous (sp??) meaning they uh.... eat poo...

Jealous!!!

I've wanted a Chevron tang since the first time I saw one. I wonder if it's too late for me since I already added the scopus?

Mind if I ask how much you got it for?

Llama:

It was >$100! I remember back when I was in the hobby before they were around $80.

I think one zebrasoma and one Ctenochaetus wouldn't be too much for a 90g provided that's all you have and they are small.

Hi and thanks! I acclimated all the guys and added them last night. The mystery wrasse headed for the rock like a bullet! The lights were still off this morning but I could see one McCosker's sleeping happily :)

Don't worry, I"ll send you pix of your babies when they're out :)

Cheers
